The heart of my craft
Discover the passion and precision behind every piece of Maree Grant handcrafted silver jewellery. I invite you to explore my unique making process, the inspirations that drive me, and the special connection I hope you feel with each design.

Handcrafted from start to finish
My jewellery is truly handcrafted, distinguishing it from mass-produced items. I meticulously cut every piece from sheets of metal, shape and carve wax for casting and even craft all the findings, like hooks, from sterling silver wire. The final touch involves a painstaking hand-polish, using a range of graded sandpaper, culminating in a brilliant finish on the polisher. The end result is 100% us; I only present jewellery that perfectly matches our intended vision, ensuring unparalleled quality and artistry.

More than just jewellery
When you wear my jewellery, I want you to experience something truly special and unique. Each piece is handmade, reflecting a designer quality that stands apart. I take pride in creating jewellery that ensures no one else will have the exact same earrings or ring. It's about wearing something that is exclusively yours – something truly special.

The magic of transformation
One of the most fascinating aspects of jewellery making is witnessing the transformation of materials. There's a particular joy when soldering works perfectly, or when a piece, initially black and grimy from the workbench, suddenly gleams into a beautiful, shiny creation after cleaning and finishing. However, the most amazing process is undoubtedly watching enamel powder emerge from the kiln. As layers of glass powder build up, the colours intensify, becoming bright and glossy – a truly captivating sight. Like these earrings to the left, "Cocktails on the beach at sunrise."
Inspired by nature, crafted with tradition
New Zealand's abundant nature provides endless inspiration, from the intricate shapes of leaves and the textures of bark to the dynamic movement of waves and the diverse colours and contours of hills and cliffs. This natural beauty led me to explore traditional Japanese Mitsuro wax techniques and the elegant Japanese Kanzashi hair pin designs. Both art forms beautifully incorporate elements and movement from nature, resonating deeply with my artistic style and commitment to creating unique, heirloom-quality silver jewellery.
